Senada Theory has created a collection of blouses and skirts that celebrate this swirling, "I Feel Pretty" elegance. Fluffed and layered with feather-light cotton silk chiffon and satin, they dance their way joyfully through Mediterranean breezes, impossibly cyan skies and the heady high notes of citrus and the sea.
Thick cotton silk and crepe de chine are also used for the skirts to provide a slightly sharper silhouette softened by feminine details of multi-coloured, hand-moulded ethnic buttons.
The Senada Theory blouses are cleverly tailored, with hand-smocking and pleating offset by puff sleeves. A variety of feminine touches like satin ribbons and quilted details on the collars perfectly complements the swirl and twirl of the skirts. A palette dominated by pretty pastels with counterpoints of navy blue, dark chocolate and the season's accent colour of electric lime sets the tone for this collection. A unique series of fossil and ancient landscape prints is also incorporated in the designs.
Sretsis is also in a celebratory mode, inspired by the notion of choosing the ideal outfit for every day of the week according to the longstanding Thai tradition that designates each day with its own colour.
For those who may need reminding, starting with Monday, the colour sequence is yellow, pink, green, orange, blue and red. These colours, set against Pim Sukhahuta's sharp prints in silk chiffon, soft cotton knits, seersucker and silk twill, from the crystalline roses in Rose Storm print to Macles, a rough diamond print, form the whimsical, "What shall I wear today?" mix-and-match Mon-Sun Sretsis collection.
The Sretsis sisters' well-known sense of humour also runs through this Spring/Summer 2008 collection that sees heavily stylised looks and reversible pieces integrated with everyday outfits to add a cheeky freshness and interest to tradition.
Dresses centre around the "Sunshine Flapper Dress" and "Sunshine Shirt Dress" that flaunt sweet ruffles and oversized bows, while tailored pleats and narrow waists define the slimmer samples. Rose-red Saturday is often a time for a dip in the pool or the sea and the Saturday '60s-style Rose Storm Sun Bathing Suit - a kitschy, high-waist example with vintage-style top - is both cheeky and highly wearable in a reversible floral print.
Suits are well represented in the Sretsis Mon-Sun collection, from cropped tuxedos to double-pocket, menswear-inspired jackets in both loud signature prints and more muted tones.
Colour matched accessories for this celebration of Sretsis style come in the form of a cloche-like Bob Hat to a Skinny Stripes belt that sits nonchalantly at the waist, a reminder of the collection's nod to the 1920s. RT
